North Indian food

I ate lunch at a north Indian restaurant with a member of ‘Eating Asian food in Tokyo’. Indian restaurants usually have chicken, mutton, egg, vegetables and beans curry as their main dishes. But do they have pork curry? I think this is rare. The pork curry, huge naan, small salad with tandoori chicken was a set menu. Each curry was catered to our liking, so we can ask to have the flavor milder or hotter. After eating spicy curry, it’s good to drink something sweet. I had a cup of chai. This tea reminded me of the dishes that Hari-san’s wife made for me. Hari-san was one of my students and is from southern India. His wife’s cooking was very delicious. He and his family returned to southern India a few months ago. I miss them. Next time I’ll look for a south Indian restaurant.

Miki

Hello, Kozy.
I think your appreciation for different cultures and their food is great. Understanding people, their language, their way of life and what they like to eat is very important. When you're in a multi-cultured country and it's impossible to understand all the cultures and the different languages spoken there, but that's what makes it so exciting. I think Japan also is slowly becoming a multi-cultured country. When you have different people, they bring with them many wonderful and different dishes. I wish there were more people out there who shared the same openness and way of thinking as you. Bon appetite! Take care and keep up the good work.

P.S. Food is the bread and butter of life.

Hello devil dog

Thank you very much for your comments. I agree with you.
I think Japanese people don't know very much about other cultures. If we cared about the differences in cultures, we would be more friendly toward foreigners.
I also think food is very important part of everyone's culture. I'll keep on enjoying many kinds of food.

Hi april, you also think pork is unusual in an Indian restaurant. Yes, it's really rare and I ate it for the first time.
