ビリーバーズトゥデイの3周年 The third Anniversary of the Believers Today

以前、ご紹介したビリーバ―ズトゥデイの3周年記念祝いと東北支援チャリティーコンサートに参加しました。
LAのインデペンデント映画会社の撮影、日本人歌手の飛び入り、ゴスペル、創設者エドワーズ氏のパフォーマンスなど盛りだくさんでした。
お食事はアメリカ南部のお料理で、ラトーニャさんが作ったものでした。サラダからデザートのチーズケーキまで、すべて美味しかったです。初めて食べたのは、マドレーヌの形をした塩味の焼き菓子です。甘くない！？　パンの代わりでしょうか。
日本ではあまり馴染みのない人身売買のプレゼンテーションもあり、いろいろなことを知る機会にもなりました。
彼らは、5月17～18日に東北石巻へボランティアに行って、また音楽の力で、元の生活に戻りたいと願っている人々を勇気づけてくるそうです。

I attended the third anniversary celebration and the charity concert for Tohoku area of the Believers Today as I introduced before.
There were many things, a shooting of an independent movie company of LA, Performances of a Japanese singer, gospel and the founder Mr. Jett Edwards. They served American southern style food which was made by LaTonya-san. All foods were really delicious, from salad to cheese cake for dessert. I ate a baked good of saltiness in the shape of Madeleine for the first time. It’s not sweet!? I thought that it was instead of bread.
There was also a presentation of human trafficking that is unfamiliar in Japan. It was also an opportunity to learn other various things.
They will return to Tohoku May 17th –18th 2013, to volunteer in community services and use their musical talents to uplift the spirits of those still waiting to get theirs lives back together.

チェロキー Cherokee

正式には、クアラ・バウンダリーとして知られています。
グレート・スモーキー・マウンテンズ国立公園の東側にある東部チェロキー族インディアン居留区の小さな町です。チェロキー族には「涙の道」という悲しい歴史があります。その辛い過去にも関わらず、伝統や文化を大切に保存し、伝えていく努力をしています。
「チェロキー・インディアン博物館」では、部族の文化と伝説を知ることが出来ます。
また「オコラナフティー・インディアン村」では、チェロキー族の伝統工芸品を展示していて、陶器、籠編み、仮面の彫刻などの実演を見ることができます。夏の間だけ「この丘のために」という野外劇をやっていて、チェロキー族の始まりから現在までの歴史を経験できます。驚くことに、カジノがあります。
チェロキーの血を引く有名人としては、ジョニー・デップ、ケビン・コスナー、キャメロン・ディアスそしてジミー・ヘンドリックスなどがいます。

Formally, it is known as Qualla Boundary.
It is a small town in the Eastern District of the Cherokee Indian Reservation on the east side of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There is a sad history within the lives of the Cherokee Indians called "Trail of Tears" in Cherokee Indian. Regardless of their painful past, they make an effort to conserve and keep up their traditions and cultures. You can learn more at the "Museum of the Cherokee Indian". In the Oconaluftee Indian Village, you can have an exhibition of traditional Cherokee crafts, and see demonstration of making pottery, basket and masks.
You can see a pageant "Unto These Hills" during the summer and experience the history of the Cherokee Indian. Surprisingly, there is a casino.
People of Cherokee blood are also celebrities such as Johnny Depp, Kevin Costner, Cameron Diaz, Jimmy Hendrix, etc.

チムニー・ロック Chimney Rock

チムニー・ロック国立公園内にある山の頂上に露出した大きな花崗岩です。
心配しないで！登るのに階段の代わりにエレベーターもあります。

It is an exposed large granite monolith at the top of the mountain in the Chimney Rock National Park.　
Don’t worry! There is a lift you can use instead of the stairs.

ラスト・オブ・モヒカン The Last of the Mohicans

ビルトモアハウスやブルーリッジマウンテンで撮影された映画です。自然の風景は雄大でとても美しかったです。見終わって、戦争は悲しみと復讐心を残すだけで何も生まれないのだと思いました。
主演のダニエル・デイ＝ルイス（Daniel Day-Lewis）は2012年公開の『リンカーン』で、第85回アカデミー賞主演男優賞を受賞しました。

This movie was filmed at the Biltmore House and in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The spectacle of nature is beautiful and very majestic. After I saw it, I thought that from wars always are not born anything but just leaves grief and a heart for revenge.
The featured actor is Daniel Day-Lewis won an Oscar for best actor award for "Lincoln" in 2012.

グレート・スモーキー山脈国立公園 Great Smoky Mountains National Park

ノースカロライナ州とテネシー州にまたがっている国立公園です。
蒸気が煙のように立ち上るのでついた名前で、日本の風景を思い出させます。年間の来園者数は全米No.1で、2位のグランドキャニオンの2倍以上の人が訪れます。ノースカロライナ州側は、アッシュビルから行きます。2～3億年前に誕生したアパラチア山脈の世界最古の山並みに生きる動植物の多様性から1983年に世界遺産に登録されました。また先住民チェロキー族の保護集落があります。総延長約1,360Kmのハイキングトレイルもあり四季折々美しいですが、秋の紅葉が格別です。アメリカの雄大な風景をお楽しみ下さい。山小屋風のビジターセンターがあり、園内の動物、地理や歴史などの展示が行われています。

This national park extends across North Carolina and Tennessee.
It’s named from the steam rising like smoke and it reminds you the Japanese landscapes. The annual number of park visitors is No.1 in the U.S. and twice as many people visit than the Grand Canyon which is No.2. People go there from Asheville from the North Carolina side. It was registered as a World Heritage site in 1983 because of the variety of plants and animals that live in the world's oldest mountain ranges of the Appalachian Mountains that was born two or three billion years ago. There is a Cherokee village of indigenous people under government protection. There is also about a 1,360Km area hiking trails. The four seasons are beautiful but autumn leaves are special. Enjoy the magnificent landscape of the U. S. There is a lodge-style visitor center, and they exhibit animal, geography and history.

アメリカの風光明媚なルートの中で最も有名な周遊道路です。アパラチア山脈の一部にあり、青く煙るような霧が出ることから名づけられ魔法のような景色です。全長は755km、そのうちノースカロライナ州を通る部分は406kmあり、標高1829mのところを走っています。紅葉の名所であり、ビューポイント（展望台）がたくさんあります。また春と夏の間は他の州ではおそらく見たことがない緑の樹木を見ることができます。車を停めてゆっくり美しい景色を楽しみましょう！フォーク・アート・センターは、工芸品のギャラリーでもあり、ビジターセンターにもなっています。

This is the most famous road of the scenic routes in the U.S. There is a part of the Appalachian Mountains and its name comes from the mist over the mountains like blue smoke, a magical view. The full length of the parkway is 755km, 406km in North Carolina and it is located at a 1829m altitude. The autumn leaves are very beautiful and there are lots of observatories, during the spring and summer there is greenery is like you’ve never seen in any other states. Let’s stop the car and enjoy the beautiful scenery! Folk Art Center is a gallery of craft and also a visitor center.

この邸宅はアメリカで旅行者が訪れる最も有名なアトラクションのひとつです。
個人所有としてはアメリカ最大のフランス・ルネサンス様式のお城のような邸宅です。1895年から1895年の6年の歳月をかけて作られました。部屋数は250室、23,000冊の蔵書が所蔵されている図書館、地下にはボウリング場、アスレチックジム、室内プールなどがあります。100年以上前の設備とは・・・、すごい！広大な敷地内には四つ星ホテル、レストラン、植物園、牧場、ブドウ畑、ワイナリーなどあります。「ラスト・オブ・モヒカン」「フォレスト・ガンプ」などがここで撮影されました。
全米で最も訪問客の多いワイナリーとして知られ、ワインの試飲も出来ます。ギフトショップでお気に入りのワインなどいかがでしょう。

This estate is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the U.S.
It is just like a castle of French Renaissance style. It’s the largest private estate of the United States. It had been taken six years to build between 1889 and 1895.
There are 250 rooms, a library of 23,000 books, underground bowling alley, a gym, and an indoor swimming pool. The facilities are more than 100 years ago…, it’s amazing! There are a four stars hotel, restaurants, a botanical garden, a vineyard and a winery in the extensive grounds. “The Last of the Mohicans”, “Forest Gump”, etc. were filmed. It’s known as the most visited winery in the United States and you can do wine tasting. Why don't you purchase your favorite wines at their gift shop.

オバマ大統領が度々訪れていて、2010年には家族と一緒に休暇を過ごしたこともあります。ヨーロッパ人が来る前はチェロキー族インディアンの土地でした。現代ではアメリカ人が最も住んでみたい理想の町のひとつです。四季があり、美しい自然、公害は少なく、治安の良い環境にあり、避暑地でもあります。オスカー俳優のチャールストン・ヘストンや歌手のロバータ・フラックの出身地です。
アッシュビルと周辺の山脈は10月の紅葉がとても美しく人気があります。

Asheville is the largest city in the western North Carolina.
Barack Obama has visited this city on a few occasions. He and his family vacationed in the city in 2010. Before the arrival of the Europeans, the Cherokee lived there.
In modern times, this city is one of the most ideal place where Americans want to live.
There are four seasons, beautiful nature, less pollution, well-maintained in the environment and is known as a summer resort. The Oscar winning actor Charleston Heston and the singer Roberta Flack are from this city.
Asheville and the surrounding mountains are popular with beautifully colored leaves in October.

シャーロット Charlotte

18世紀後半のイギリス王妃シャーロットから由来して、市のニックネームは「クイーンシティ」。初期はゴールドラッシュで栄え、南北戦争後は綿織物産業が発展した。現在は、ニューヨークのウォール街に次いで2番目の金融都市として知られ、バンク・オブ・アメリカが本社をアップタウン（センターシティー）に置いています。

【交通】
▶シャーロット・ダグラス国際空港
アップタウンから西へ9kmの位置にあります。

Charlotte is the largest city located in the southwestern part of North Carolina.
The nickname of the city is the “Queen City” because it is derived from the second half of the 18th century England Queen Charlotte.
In early times this city flourished in nation’s first gold rush and after the Civil War the cotton textile industries had developed. Now it is known as the second largest financial center in the U.S. followed by New York's Wall Street. There is a headquarter of Bank of America in the Uptown.

It is located at 9km west of Uptown.
This airport is the largest hub of US Airway and United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines is served. SouthPark Mall is known for its widely collection of various brands. But it’s also known to be one of the most reasonable malls to purchase brand name goods. You can enjoy everything in the mall and its surrounding area. You can buy and eat everything there.

【Culture and Sports】
▶This city is the center of culture of both North and South Carolina. There are a number of art galleries and museums such as the "Mint Museum" in Uptown. And also there are many theaters like “Blumenthal Performing Arts Center” for “Charlotte Symphony Orchestra”, Opera Carolina and so on.
▶It is home to a number of notable universities and colleges. There is University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
▶It is known as the holy place of the popular NASCAR race car in the U.S. There is “NASCAR Hall of Fame”.
▶It is also home of the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League and the Charlotte Bobcats of the National Basketball Association. The Carolina Panthers play their home games in Bank of America Stadium and played the first Super Bowl in 2003. Michael Jordan became the owner of Charlotte Bobcats in 2010.

※The central area is referred to as "Downtown" in many cities in the U.S. but they call “Uptown” in Charlotte. It is from 1987 years by the largest local newspaper publisher.

一つの団体を紹介したいと思います。

最近この奉仕団体を見つけて、彼らの活動に感動しました。この団体の創設者であるエドワード氏は敬虔なキリスト教徒で大きな心を持った人だと思います。団体のメンバーは世界的に色々な文化やバックグラウンド持った人々で、苦しんでいる人々の精神や心を前向きにするために一致団結しています。
私は音楽に国境はないと考えていて、彼らの考え方に同感です。
『音楽の力は、自然災害や不幸な予想外の事態から苦しんでいる、また多くのものを失った人々の生活に平和と調和をもたらす』

この団体は２０１３/４/２１（日）に渋谷のJ-pop café で創立３周年を記念して東北地方復興援助のために募金集めのイベントをします。チケットは、コンサートとビュッフェスタイルのソウルフード＋２ドリンクが含まれて￥４，０００。渋谷駅近く、素晴らしいエンターテイメントと食事が付きます。

I would like to introduce an organization.

I recently discovered this outreach organization and was impressed with their activities. I think the founder; Mr. Edwards is a devoted Christian and a man with a big heart. And members are people from various cultures and backgrounds worldwide united together to uplift in spirits and hearts of others.
I think music is borderless and I agree with their way of thinking.
“The power of music provides peace and harmony in the lives of those that have suffered and lost so much through natural disasters or other unfortunate or unforeseen situations.”

ちょっと乾燥が・・・

きれいに洗い上がるのですが、乾燥がちょっと・・・。
ふたを開けた時に、ふたの部分に水滴がかなり付いています。
食器類はほぼ乾いていますが、完全ではありません。
箸立ての中の箸やスプーンの下の部分に湿気が残っています。
おや、どうして？

そこでパナソニックの「お客様ご相談センター」にTELしました。

Q：乾燥が完全にされていないのですが？
A：洗いの方に重きをおいているので、普通の行程だと乾燥時間は30分に設定されています。もう少し乾燥をしっかりとさせたい場合は、一行程が終わってあと再度乾燥する方法があります。
または、行程を洗いまでで一度終わらせ、その後乾燥を新たに運転すると乾燥時間が60分になるので、より乾きます。

なるほど、状況に合わせて行程を選択すればいいということがわかりました。
納得！！

プチ食洗の洗い上がりは、とてもきれい！！
ぴっかぴかです。

食洗機の中に入れる前に、お皿の上の食べ残し等を簡単に流しました。
そしてプチ食洗へ。

寝る前に準備をしておいて、スイッチを入れて、お休みなさい。
翌朝、すっかりきれいになった食器を棚へしまうだけ。
夕食後の片づけの時間がかなり短縮されて、好きなことに使える時間がぐっと増えました。

やはり食洗機は欠かせないな！！

Happy Birthday!!

もう誕生日が嬉しい年令ではないけれど・・・。
1年に1度しかないということで、フレンチのランチをして、その後マッサージでリラックスしました。そういえば、去年も同じようなコースだったな・・・。

恵比寿にあるフレンチ「サリュー」でランチ
さすがフレンチ、きれいな盛り付け、味も美味しくお腹がいっぱいになりました。
最後のデザートのお皿に「Happy Birthday!」と書かれていて感激。
娘の配慮にも感謝です！

その後、渋谷でマッサージ
マッサージルーム「YUAN」でリラックスしました。
YUANは、お店の人全員がとても感じ良く、落ち着いた雰囲気の店内です。
隣の人との仕切りがカーテンではなく壁で仕切ってあるので個室風な感じが良いです。
1時間のマッサージを受けて、うとうとzzz。
最後に美味しいお茶を頂きました。

今年も良い誕生日を過ごしました！！

プチ食洗は、数分考えた後、本格的に働き始めました。

使ってみました！

容量は2人分がゆっくりと入ります。
奥にはコップ置き、箸やスプーンは立てて入れます。
入れやすいように全体が前後に動きます。

とても便利！
入れ方を工夫すれば、まだまだ食器は入れられそうです。

ということで、このブログで「プチ食洗」の様子をお伝えします。
私がモニターするプチ食洗は、NP-TCR1：http://panasonic.jp/dish/petit/
実物を見た感想は、「かたづきんちゃん」と比較して奥行きが半分くらいだなと思ったことです。幅はほぼ同じようですが、本体についている水洗のホースや電気のコードも以前より短くなっています。さずが「水切りかごサイズ」ということで狭い場所に設置することができるように作られています。

我が家では置き方を横向きに替えることできました。
おかげで台は広々とし、窓をふさがないので前よりも明るくなりました。

家族の人数が少なくなったので、「かたづきんちゃん」より少しコンパクトなものが良いと考えていました。
大型家電量販店へ下見に行くと、いくつかのメーカーの食洗機が展示されていました。
そこの店員さんのお勧めは何と言ってもパナソニック！
そして「パナソニックから新しくプチ食洗機が出るようです」と最新情報をくれました。
家に帰って、早速ググってみました。

お世話になりました「かたづきんちゃん」

我が家で15年間使っていたパナソニック社製の食器洗い乾燥機「かたづきんちゃん」
ネーミングもかわいくてコロンとした形状。
食器洗い乾燥機の歴史を見てみると1996年（平成8年）の製品です。
冬場の手荒れを軽減したいと購入して、毎日大活躍してくれました。
お世話になりました。ありがとう！

でも、さすがに古くなり新しいものに取り換えたいと昨年暮れから探し始めました。

2012年はとてもラッキーな幕開けです。
大変ご無沙汰を致しました。
3年ぶりの投稿のきっかけは、パナソニックの「プチ食洗」のモニターに当選したことです。
これより順次モニターに当選したいきさつをアップしていきます。

ウガンダ Uganda

最近、アメリカからの留学生の影響を受けて、ウガンダに少し興味を持ちました。私が知っているウガンダはアミン大統領の独裁政治、そして常に争いの絶えない怖い国ということだけです。その若い留学生は医者になるための勉強をしています。彼女は年に一度ウガンダの小さな村へ行きボランティアとして医療活動を手伝っているそうです。彼女が主なメンバーになっているサイトENGEYEを見て下さい。募金活動を手伝いながら自分の勉強を頑張っている姿には感動します。２月にまた日本からウガンダへ出かけるそうです。すごい！

Recently I have become interested in Uganda because my international student, who is from the U.S., had an effect on me. I only knew that the president Amin was the Ugandan military dictator and that the country is scary because usually there is some ongoing internal insurrection. The young student is studying to be a doctor. She goes to a small village in Uganda once a year helping with medical activities as a volunteer. Please look at this site ENGEYE which she is a main member. I’m really impressed with her because she is studying medical science and helping ENGEYE with various fundrasing projects. I heard that she’s going there again this February from Japan. It’s incredible!

京都 Kyoto

京都へ行きました。
福岡、神戸、小田原そして東京から京都に集まって、紅葉とおしゃべりを楽しんで来ました。前もって細かく計画を立てていなかったので、前夜にホテルでインターネットで調べて観光しました。その時にとても役立ったのがこの小さなパソコンです。便利でした。
相国寺の特別展、東福寺、真如堂の見事な紅葉や清水寺の夜景、美しい平等院など、いい思い出が出来ました。

I went to Kyoto.
My friends from Fukuoka, Kobe, Odawara and Tokyo gathered together for this trip. We enjoyed talking and autumn leaves. We didn’t have much sightseeing plans so we searched everything by the internet every night beforehand at our hotel. This small computer was very useful and convenient at that time! We saw a special exhibition of Shokokuji, great autumn leaves at Tofukuji, Shinnyodo, the night view of Kiyomizu-temple, beautiful Byodoin-temple and so on. We made some really good memories.

お茶会 The Tea Ceremony

お久しぶりです。　しばらく更新しない間にすっかり冬になってしまいました。
研究所で２つの調査の仕事が重なったので忙しかったです。

浅草寺の本坊「伝法院」でお茶会がありました。
娘が茶道を習っているお教室も参加したので、アメリカからの留学生２人を連れて行きました。私も学生時代に習いましたが、すっかり作法を忘れていて新鮮な気持ちでお抹茶を頂きました。大勢のお客様の前でお茶を立てた娘はかなり緊張したようでした。表千家と裏千家の両方で頂きましたが、それぞれの特徴が出ていて興味深かったです。留学生も初めての経験で喜んでくれました。足はしびれたようでしたが・・・。

Long time no see. It has turned to winter while I haven’t updated this blog.
I had two research works at the institute, so I was busy.

There was a tea ceremony at Denpoin in Sensoji-temple at Asakusa.
I took two international students from the U.S. to the tea ceremony because I was participating in my daughter’s teacher class. I also learned when I was a student, but I forgot a lot and when I drank the Matcha it was like the first time. My daughter who was wearing kimono was very nervous when she performed the tea ceremony because there were many guests. We had tea at both the Omote-senke and Ura-senke rooms. It was interesting seeing the different features of the rooms. The international students enjoyed their first experience attending the tea ceremony. But they lost feeling in their feet…

オクトーバーフェスト Oktoberfest

私が仕事をしている研究所の研究員に誘われて横浜にあるドイツ学園のオクトーバーフェストへ行きました。静かな住宅地の中にあるきれいな学校でした。校庭では、生徒の親たちが協力してドイツのソーセージやハム、スイスのチーズを使ったお料理やお酒などを売っていました。日本の学校とは違った雰囲気で面白かったです。

A research worker from the institute where I work invited me to a German school’s Oktoberfest in Yokohama. It was a beautiful school in a quiet residential area. The student's parents all worked together to sell German sausages, ham, and food with Swedish cheese and alcohol. The school was interesting because its atmosphere was different from Japanese schools.

ハワイに住むブログ友達が紹介してくれたサイトです。ワイキキの海岸をライブで映しています。疲れた時や東京のお天気が悪い時など、ハワイの青い海と空を見て癒されています。時間のある時、皆さんも是非試してみて下さい。
One of my blog friends informed me of this site from Hawaii. This web camera at Waikiki beach is showing live video all day long every day. When I’m tired or the weather in Tokyo is bad, I enjoy this site because I can see the blue sky and ocean in Hawaii. If you have time, why don’t you take a look at it?

エイチ&エム H&M

スェーデンのH&Mが銀座に1号店をオープンしました。TVの取材なども来ていてすごい人でした。入店するまでに2時間待ちだとか！あぁ、また私が見に行けるのは当分先のことになりそうです。11月には2号店が原宿に出来るそうです。

H&M from Sweden opened their first shop in Ginza. There were so many people and many TV crews came to report on it. I heard you have to wait two hours to enter the shop. Ah, I won’t be able to see the inside of the shop for a while. Their second shop will open in November in Harajuku.

東京のブルーマン The Blue Man in Tokyo

ニューヨークで見てすごく面白かったブルーマンを東京でも見ました。日本でのパフォーマンスとどう違うのかも比べてみたかったのです。同じような部分も沢山ありましたが、全体的に東京の舞台の方がハイテクだと思いました。ショーが終わってからブルーマンと写真を撮ることが出来ました。私は彼らのまつげまでブルーな顔に興味があり、一人のブルーマンに「顔に触ってもいいですか？」と聞きました。ブルーマンはどんな時も決して話しませんが、彼が頬をこちらに向けたので、顔に触ってみました。油性のペンキ？！彼も私の頬を触ったので一瞬ドキッとしましたが、彼はブルーの手袋をはめていたので、私はブルーウーマンにはなることはありませんでした。ブルーマン、すごくお勧めです！！

I saw the Blue Man Group again in Tokyo because I really enjoyed it in New York. I also wanted to compare between their performances in Japan and the U.S. Most of the performance was the same but I thought the show in Tokyo was more high-tech. After the show, we could take pictures with them. I was also curious about their faces because their eyelashes were also blue. So I said to one of them “Can I touch your face?” The Blue Man Group members never speak during or after their performances, so he just turned his cheek toward me and I touched his face. Oil paint?! I was startled because he touched my cheek too. He was wearing blue gloves, but I didn’t turn into a Blue Woman. I highly recommend The Blue Man Group!!

ホボーケン Hoboken
お友達を訪ねてニュージャージーへパストレインで行きました。ホボーケンは、静かな住宅地で良いところでした。対岸から見るマンハッタンです。
I went to Hoboken, New Jersey by the Path train.　Hoboken was a nice and quiet residential area. I saw Manhattan from its shore.

カンフーパンダ Kung Fu Panda

私は、この映画が好きです。友人は子供のための映画だと言いますが、大人が見ても考えさせられるメッセージのある良い映画だと思います。ラーメンの「秘伝の材料」と武術の「秘伝の巻物」の中味とは？パンダのポーとシーフー師匠を、ジャック・ブラックやダスティン・ホフマンが吹き替えをしているというのも面白かったです。私のお勧めの映画です。
I like this movie. My friends said it’s a children’s movie. But I think it’s a thought-provoking movie for adults too and there are some important messages in it. What are the secret ingredients to making noodles and the secret scroll of martial arts? The voices of the characters for Panda Po and the Master Shifu were Jack Black and Dustin Hoffman. It was very interesting. I recommend you see this movie.

There were some cup cakes of Sesame Street characters. They were cute but the colors were….
